Stay Green Foundation
The Stay Green Foundation is an organisation committed to environmental and natural management which focuses on training and educating farmers at the community level to be caretakers of their environment. The Stay Green Foundation was founded in August 1995 to contribute to national efforts to implement the Multilateral Environment Agreements (MEAs) and more precisely to combat desertification and environmental degradation. Afforestation and reforestation We promote and train farmers on local agro-forestry initiatives to establish cashew orchards and practice forest management. Environmental education We conduct trainings on environmental education and communication at the community level and provide audio and visual training materials to facilitate learning. The Stay Green Foundation developed the first training manual on Wetland, Coastal and Marine Ecosystems/Resources Management for teachers and Environment Education and Communication trainers. Bushfire fighting The formation, support and training of anti-bushfire clubs (brigades) has notably reduced the annual occurrence and spread of bushfires in the target communities. The clubs are all equipped with local fire-fighting tools to help combat bushfires. |
WE ARE ORGANISED by using participatory monitoring & evaluation tools forthe effective and efficient monitoring of projects. WE BUILD CAPACITY by attending trainings on advocacy, organisational development & management, strategic planning, biodiversity management and project management. WE COLLABORATE with the French organisation CILSS (Permanent Interstate Committee for the Fight Against Drought in the Sahel), the Catholic Relief Service and TANGO. WE ENGAGE WITH GOVERNMENT by working with the Ministry of Forest and Environment, and partnering with its technical departments and agency; the Department of Forestry, the Department of Parks & Wildlife Management and the National Environment Agency. |
