The Non State Actors Strengthening Programme (NSASP)
The Non State Actors Strengthening Programme (NSASP) was a European Union Funded development programme, running from September 2010 until February 2012. The Programme took a comprehensive and all embracing approach to developing skills of local communities and civil society organizations. Its overall objective was to enhance the role of NSAs in contributing to good governance, poverty reduction and the enhancement of sustainable livelihoods in The Gambia. Its purpose was tostrengthen the capacity of NSAs to play an active role in development processes and in public life in The Gambia.

The NSASP recognised that the root causes of poverty are varied and complex. The specific objective of the programme was to strengthen the capacity and skills of civil society organisations to enable them to better address the underlying causes of poverty and effectively deliver services to relieve its effects. The programme had a broad approach to development in The Gambia with four separate result areas.

1. Improvement of NSA organisation, management and fundraising capacities
2. Successful project implementation by NSAs in priority areas
3. Enhanced coordination and effectiveness of inter-NSA umbrellas/thematic networks
4. Enhanced information access for NSAs
