West Africa Rural Development Facilitators' Association (WARDFA)
WARD provides curriculum tailored and developed by African development professionals for Africans following a participatory, hands on approach. The centre focuses on three sectors: • Agriculture • Education • Health We are organised by producing monthly and quarterly financial and narrative reports as well as an annual report. WARDFA has a 10 member board that meets quarterly to promote a culture of internal communication. We engage we government at the department level; government officials from the Ministries of Education, Agriculture and Forestry have attended our trainings. Our donors are the Holland Fund and the Northern Education Service Association (NESA). The West African Rural Development Facilitators’ Association is a membership based organisation that targets the staff of Non-Governmental and Community Based Organisations to help build their capacity. The West African Rural Development Facilitators Association (WARDFA) was set up in 2007 as a result of the West African Rural Development Project, funded by CIDA phasing out. West African Rural Development (WARD) Centre is an offshoot of WARDFA and is registered with the National Training Authority as a training institute for development workers. WARD has conducted trainings on a wealth of topics; here are some of our most successful trainings. • 2011 WARD held a human relations and development training for community development practitioners and government employees. • 2009-2010 WARD funded by The Commonwealth Foundation attended a climate change conference for West Africa and harnessed the information to develop a curriculum for a climate change programme. • 2007 WARD, in partnership with Holland Foundation, The Gambia over a 2 week period trained facilitators in the literacy skills ‘reflect approach.’ |
