Support to Networks
Result area three of the NSASP's work plan was to promote cooperation between NSAs and increase the effectiveness of civil society networks. This came in the form of organisational support, and support to opportunities for improved dialogue and engagement within civil society and with government. As part of Activista's youth empowerment strategy, it conducted a five day membership training on 'Campaign planning, social media and volunteer leadership'. Following the training each network region was tasked with developing a step down training plan, six month campaign strategy and a three year regional strategy. The NSASP supported the network further by funding its training of trainers programme, which focussed on 'Social change and campaign planning, facilitation and educational planning', with the aim of establishing regional trainer teams. |
During October of 2011, Pro-PAG was supported in holding its first Annual General Meeting since 2006. The meeting enabled members to come together and elect a new Executive Board as well as reviewing the organisation's progress and proposed vision for the future. Following the AGM, Pro-PAG embarked on the development of its new strategic plan 2012-2017 with financial assistance from the NSASP. |
In addition to TANGO's Policy Dialogues, The NSASP also provided organisational and financial support to hold further theme group and dialogue sessions during 'NGO Week 2012'. The sessions covered the themes of 'Climate, Agriculture and Environment', 'Gender and Poverty Reduction' and 'Human Rights and Governance', with the aim of celebrating NSA contribution to development. |
In February 2012 TARUD held a Needs Assessment Exercise for its members. The aim of the session was to review the networks activities, assess membership needs and identify and prioritise project activity areas for the future. Membership were given the opportunity to exercise ownership of the organisation and to contribute in shaping its future. Since the needs assessment TARUD has already constituted a task force of programme coordinators to work on a joint proposal that will touch on all TARUD programmes. |
The WASDA Annual General Meeting was held on the 21st and 22nd of December 2011 with financial assistance from the NSASP. Over 200 members attended the meeting in URR, with many attendees travelling from as far away as NBR and LRR. Support was also provided for the network's review of its strategic plan. |
